User Reviews for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Good Transformers games are a rare commodity. For far too long, Transformers War for Cybertron has been the only good transformers game. Well, the good transformers game club finally has a new member: Transformers Fall of Cybertron. Fall of Cybertron picks up where War of Cybertron left off, and this new entry really moves the franchise forward. For those unfamiliar with the Transformers, here's a quick primer. The Transformers are a race of humanoid-looking sentient machines that originate from the planet Cybertron. There are 2 factions, the peace loving Autobots and the conquest-hungry Decepticons. These deep philosophical differences have lead to a civil war that has left their home planet uninhabitable. Fall of Cybertron starts as the Autobots, having lost the war, are preparing to leave their now uninhabitable home world. Oh, and these transformers can transform at-will into a secondary form factor (usually a vehicle), hence the name Transformers.Fall's single player campaign loses the co-op from War for Cybertron, but little else. The campaign is more varied this time, and ultimately less repetitive and more fun to play that War of Cybertron. The visuals have taken a noticeable leap forward. It would seem that the guys at High Moon have come a long way with the Unreal Engine. The metal look of the Transformers is particularly impressive, as are some of the set pieces that are worthy of a Gears of War or Call of Duty title. The multiplayer is largely unchanged, except for the addition of a robust create-a-character mode. War of Cybertron had a well executed suite of online modes, so it's great to see that great online experiences made into Fall of Cybertron as well. Any online multiplayer shooter fan or Transformers fan really needs to put some quality time in with Fall of Cybertron's multiplayer mode.It goes without saying that Fall of Cybertron, like War for Cybertron before it, is an excellent game. Once couldn't ask for a better use of the Transformers license.
